emerald by *katenfelix Suggester says: "You just have to love the way the planet rings look, glassy and reflective. Usually, rings aren't a big deal in most space artworks but this guy sure can make them stand out. Overall, a great piece: lovely colors and nice contrast. Worth to get as your wallpaper." I think now is an appropriate time to write my first critique (gotta use this sub for something).

Obviously, at first glance, this is very aesthetically pleasing; truly beautiful work. You've clearly put a lot of effort in creating detail that exists to add to the piece as a whole, not for it's own sake. From the subtle bands in the rings to the understated city lights, the soft comet trails to the excellent starfield, each detail helps to make this piece as solid as it is without drawing too much attention to itself. Your choice of color palette evokes a feeling of serenity and your fat borders somehow make the image as a whole more impactful (though a wallpaper without them would be great as well).

This is very well done and (personally) makes a big visual impact immediately. The idea isn't the most original (what in space art is anymoer?), but you've chosen to portray this ringed planet at an uncommon angle and have done so in one of the best examples of the arrangement so far.

Too bad I could only fave it once :P

one of the best images/art ive ever seen! simply mindblowing, in that fact i love how you did the lights and made it look like theres a civilization on the planet! the rings of the planet look almost real and the lighting just perfict, i have only one word to describe this even know its used a lot, but its EPIC! this masterpeice reminds me of planet Zenitaia from my novel, i just had to see it, wayyyy better then my imagenation! if i had the money id sooooooooo but this off you xD simply amazing!

the inpact that this gave me was me falling out of my chair! "no really i did"! and the technique of it is one of a kind master artsmenship, i might be going overboard people might say, but not for me, i love sci fi, this cuts the cake! the only reason i gave originality a 3 1/2 is because i have the same idea of this planet like 2 years ago, that i put in my novel, yes thats not really fair but its my opinion, but everything else is a 5!!! still i give this art 10/10!

also sorry for my spelling errors :/

I've been looking for a piece of artwork to use as wallpaper for ages and this is perfect! Only thing is that I need one that is around 3280x2048, is there any chance I could buy such a resolution from you?

Woah, really awesome, the backlighting on the planet is fantastic, especially near the rings, the overall dreaminess is great aswell.

I used this as inspiration (with credit and a linkback) for my description of a planetary ring in my Mass Effect-related fanfic, "If It Meant Living: Beyond" here: [link]

hadn't seen such a DUMP thing IN YEARS ! why's space art diyng? (...). but you're make 'em ALIVE with this gorgeus piece. yep, I like it, a loooot, hot as hell, man! and everything's awesome here, light, deflections, elements, quality.. <3
jesper-ullbing Featured By Owner Feb 9, 2012  Hobbyist Digital Artist
well thanks man! :)

i think that a lot of people are moving away from space art cause they find it somewhat boring to do. planet after planet, neb after neb, etc. originality is a major problem i think.
